Speaker Series The Speaker Series is a seminar-style event hosted throughout the year by the Accounting Society. Various topics are presented based on choice and preference of the speakers, ranging from specific organization information, to resume building workshops, networking skills, and many more. For many of our new members, this is the first opportunity where they can directly interact with our partners. For our existing members, this intimate setting presents an opportunity to create and maintain relationships with each respective organization.

Interactive Case Competition This is one of the Schulich Accounting Society’s most intriguing events for our members as it gathers some of the brightest students together in a competitive setting! This year, participation will be open to candidates not only from Schulich, but also to other schools across the province. Initially, the preliminary round consists of students in teams of three who will be asked to write a case in a stringent time frame. The top groups will then proceed to the final round where they will have the amazing opportunity to present their solution in front of a panel of prestigious judges.

Annual Accounting Society Social Event: Semi-Formal Dinner This event seeks to satisfy the needs of our sponsors and members by providing a unique opportunity for our members to interact and network with our sponsors in a semi-formal, yet social setting at a glamorous banquet hall. The event will present an amazing opportunity to develop relationships with all AS stakeholders for the upcoming recruitment season and the school year, while still allowing for an evening of elegance and fine dining.

Office Visits As one of our most popular and sought-after events, members are provided with a distinctive experience wherein they are invited to visit the offices of the firms. Selected candidates will be able to discover first-hand what it would feel like to work at such a highly respected organization, and will be able to interact with representatives in a more active environment. Transportation will be provided to and from the event.

*New* Mystery Designation Night This is where our members will gain insight into where an accounting designation can lead you in the business world. Professionals who have obtained one of the various, prestigious accounting designations will be invited to interact with students, and share their career stories with them. The trick here is that they must keep their designation identities a mystery until the student has learned about their current employment and the path that led them to their present positions. Once the story is known, the designation may be revealed.

*New* Taste of the Industry This is the Accounting Society’s feature event this year, providing members with a distinct opportunity to delve into a fun social and interactive information session- hands on! Each sponsor will have a booth carrying their own unique three plates of delicious food: an appetizer, an appetizer, entree and desert. Menus will be provided with questions that will be provided as the “price” of each item. In order to taste the food, the students will have to have a “taste” of the respective organization.
