Shelly Groisman
National Campus Recruitment & Global Mobility Specialist
Shelly began her professional career as an Account Manager for a full service marketing agency in downtown Toronto. After working in the advertising industry for a few years, Shelly decided to shift fields and pursue her passion of Human Resources. She started off her HR career working in the campus recruitment and professional development division for a National law firm. Shelly joined BDO Dunwoody LLP, National Office in February of 2009 and currently works on the Campus Recruitment and Global Mobility program.
Shelly holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Guelph, with a specialization in Marketing Management. She is currently pursuing her post-graduate certificate in Human Resources Management at Seneca College.
Meet one of our Schulich Ambassadors……
My name is Sarah Irshad and I am a Staff Accountant at BDO. I interviewed with BDO Dunwoody LLP in the fall of 2006 when I was in my fourth year at Schulich and started working at their Toronto office a year later. Since then, I've been exposed to a wide variety of industries and organizations, as well as substantially all areas of an audit, from planning to execution of a file.
I wrote the UFE in the fall of 2008 and successfully passed in December 2008 and am now waiting to complete my hours and time requirements before I can become designated. BDO has been very supportive during the UFE process by paying for prep courses to supplement some in house sessions and providing paid time off to study as well as providing me with a "UFE Buddy" to help me out through the process and mark some practice cases for me.
Each employee is also assigned a coach when they begin working at BDO. The coach is usually someone in a more senior role at BDO. Staff will usually get assigned to managers and senior managers. Your coach over the years becomes your go to person for guidance, which can range from professional guidance to personal coaching.
Volunteering for tax clinics and at the CA convocation ceremony as a junior, to participating in the BDO girls’ volleyball team has been a great way to get involved in the community and to develop healthy relationships with fellow BDO’ers from the Toronto office and other offices across the GTA as well.
